Alejandra Rujerio

Lives and works in Los Angeles, CA

Alejandra Rujerio's paintings can largely be understood as parts of a series of expansive experiments that embrace serendipity and improvisation. Her approach to painting and working in the studio is to seize upon every moment of spontaneity in which an unexpected combination of color, the discovery of a new tool, or unplanned convergence of line and form become catalysts for new and unexpected compositions. Her paintings, almost exclusively created using acrylic or mixed media, are also affective documents of her physical and emotional responses to a given painting and the environment that surrounds it.

Alejandra Rujerio is a professional artist with special needs whose studio is based in the ECF Art Centers; Westside Art studio. She is represented by the Downtown Art Center (DAC) Gallery, where her artwork is regularly exhibited. ECF Art Centers is an adult program of the Exceptional Children's Foundation, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that provides services to adults and children with developmental disabilities.
