Young Mi Park
Born in South Korea, lives and works in Los Angeles.
Young Mi Park began her career as an artist in 2007 when she joined the Downtown Los Angeles ECF Art Center Studio. During the first few years as a member of the Studio, Park worked primarily in clay creating an array of animal sculptures made up of meticulously arranged coil forms and thick glazes. Gradually she began to work in two-dimensional media, creating a large body of landscape paintings and fauna studies rendered in acrylic paints, pastels, and inks. Across the varying media Park has worked in, her signature usage of contrasting line values and puzzle like arrangements function as a kind of aesthetic through-line which unities an ever expanding body of work. Park was born in South Korea and moved to the U.S. in 1977. Outside of the studio, she enjoys gardening, spending time with friends at church and watching Korean dramas.
