Judy Lopez has been a staple of the Art Centers Program for over two decades and to this day remains one of the most visible artists in the program due to the distinct aesthetic of her artwork. Lopez’s body of work falls largely within the realm of abstract expressionism and often touches upon the fields of minimalism and lyrical abstraction. Her organic and intuitive crosshatch style of mark making is present despite whatever medium she may be working with, and her stream of consciousness approach to a myriad of processes bolsters her artistic mark. Although she is largely reserved in the studio, Lopez is an avid dancer and often uses dance as an alternate outlet for her energy. In addition, her family has remained an extremely supportive element of her artistic and personal development and they are always present at any gallery opening in which her work is featured.
